Irresistible Color for Gorgeous Summer Hair!

Multi-dimensional shades and rich hues of vibrant color create a playful pallet for gorgeous summer hair! With color ranging from platinum blonde to intense chocolate brown, it’s no surprise that choosing the hottest hue for your summer look can be somewhat daunting. To learn more about choosing the right color, and caring for hair during the warm days of the summer, I caught up with Teresa Thompson of New Energy Salon.
BBS: What are the hottest hair colors for head-turning beauty this summer?
TT: This year blondes have very pale highlights mixed with natural golden hues, while brunettes have warm deep tones infused with light brown to create a multi-dimensional color. The reds mix lighter shades of warm red to give that summer look, and also add vibrancy!
BBS: When selecting a new color, what factors determine the best color for a great look?
TT: A proper consultation with a stylist is important. Eye color and skin tone are the best ways to determine the color that will work for you.
BBS: Any at home tips for keeping hair color fresh in between salon visits?
TT: I recommend that my clients don’t wash their hair everyday, and use professional products. Also for those clients who have problems with fading, a conditioner with a little color pigment in it will help.
BBS: Summer months mean fun and sun, but how can we protect our hair from chlorine and sun damage?
TT: Before getting in the chlorine, rinse hair with water, as this will protect the hair from absorbing as many chemicals in the water. It is also very important to shampoo and condition hair after getting out of the pool to ensure that the chlorine is out. In Colorado we are constantly exposed to the sun so make sure that the shampoo and conditioner have UV protection.
BBS: New Energy is “Going Green” with hair color, can you tell me a little more about this?
TT: We use Goldwell and KMS California products in our salon, and they have new trends every year. With the growing trend of ” going green” our fall trends will be moving in that direction. Expect to see a mix of warm and cool tones for a very vibrant color, paired with a soft long layered cut, for a natural look with a high fashion edge! ***
